Summary

Despite the popularity of business as both a college major and a career path, many people have a negative view on the role of business in our society. This chapter looks at why people view business that way, and why their view should be reconsidered. It discusses the ways in which businesses influence our lives and our culture. It looks at why business matters, and how we can embrace it for positive outcomes.

Rob May's Bio

Biography

Rob has an BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Kentucky. He used to design graphics processing chips for a defense contractor, then he owned a small business. He currently teaches Computer Information Systems at the University of Louisville, and is figuring out what to do next.

Rob likes to play basketball, listen to Jimmy Buffett, and read about business and neuroscience. Rob runs The Business Experiment, and blogs regularly at BusinessPundit.
