Missy Higgins

It seems word is getting out about my new favorite artist Missy Higgins. I wanted to make sure I publicly acknowledge my fandom.

I randomly jumped onto the Live Earth concert broadcast. I jumped to the Australia concerts and saw Crowded House live and then checked out who else had been onstage. Missy had been on in the morning and I was immediately hooked up when I heard Steer.

I can't buy the new album On A Clear Night from iTunes. It is available in the Australian version of the store, but you need an AU address to buy from there. The every useful Wikipedia tells me the album will not be released in the US until early 2008. Ugh.

Amazon says they can get it for me, and westendentertainment is going to get my business.

:)

There must be a connection.

This morning they announced getting VC funding from Union Square Ventures among others.

I just started using Twitter.

Coincidence?

I think not.

:)

Off to Green Bay

This morning, I am headed to Green Bay for the Packers Shareholders meeting with my father and brother. We all got a single share back in the 1990's when they did their limited IPO.

There are only two benefits to being a Packers shareholder:

1. You can say you are a shareholder.

2. You can attend the annual shareholders meeting.

This is our first time we have gone up for the event. It should be cool.

If there is anything interesting, I will post updates on my Twitter account. Those messages show up in the little box on the right side of the blog. There is an RSS feed for my Twitter account as well.

Pi and Domain Names

I saw a t-shirt today with the symbol pi (π) and it was followed by the decimal equivalent taken out to 50 decimals. You might remember from grade school or high school that pi is a irrational number that appears to have no repeating patterns. You normally use this factor when you are doing calculations with circles and such.

I immediately wondered about the popularity of pi based on the web domain registrations. What I found was more inconsistency than I expected.
Instant Domain Search is a pretty cool tool to look this up quickly. Here is what I found:

314 - taken
3141 - taken
31415 - taken

314159 - taken
3141592 - taken
31415926 - taken

3141592653589793238462643 - available
31415926535897932384626433 - available

and from here to 31415926535897932384626433832795028841971 is available.

I would have figured that people would have consistency bought each additional decimal place, but it seems some versions are more interested to people than others.

I Don't Care What People Say...

If you have any childhood fondness for the Autobots, go see the movie.

I saw it tonight, and it wasn't as bad as the critics have been making it out to be.
